Note: In addition to the above railways have to incur expenditure on staff welfare, law and 
  order, railway protection ,health, medical and welfare activities, canteen and other staff
  amenities, educational assistance to railway employees and residential accomodation
  etc. Also it have to maintain many unremunerative branch lines, the loss in maintaining 
  these 110 lines( 50 BG,39 MG and 21 NG)  in 2005-06 is Rs. 414 crores.
